Mural Art: Sixe Paredes
Storytelling: Oana Maroti

This is a great mural, 32 m, with the Catalan title: L´Esperit de la muntanya aka The mountain´s spirit, renamed in Romanian as Pasarea cu furculita (the bird with a fork).
I've tried many times to take a relevant photo, even going up a few notches.
It was painted by Sixe Paredes for the Open Walls Urban Art Festival (2016). This work is part of the Natura Viva series, and in 2025, it's still there, shining brightly across the entire facade of a building and in the most prominent view of the area. It's located near the Alfonso X metro station.
There was also a spontaneous garden nearby, but the deciding factors preferred the parking lot. Aside from this wonderful work of art, the area appears rundown, with only a few trees and a pile of concrete. The birds still sing, but with the passing cars and the nearby metro, their melody is barely audible.
Sixe Paredes makes an open call for diversity and environmental conservation to protect green spaces and their habitats.
The artist takes us on a philosophical journey, where traveling birds exist, with whom we have shared space since time immemorial. The influence of textile art is embodied in graffiti, as an exquisite communication between ancient practices and vibrant underground techniques, influenced by immigration.
Life begins with an egg and around it, there´s a whole theory. The Egg Theory focuses more on development, self-defense, and protective layers than on fried eggs, omelets, cakes, and mayonnaise.
Egg development:
Step 1: The shell protects the interior; therefore, someone is responsible for protecting it before hatching, until it fully develops.
Step 2: Once the protective shell is removed, someone protects the newly arrived until it becomes autonomous.
The egg can undergo a natural transformation and become depending on external factors. Is not just about the egg and how prepared it might be. It´s about how prepared the exterior is for new arrivals and diversity.
Survival and development depend on how protected the egg is.
