What are the attributions of a host country receiving immigrants and refugees?

Key obligations include upholding non-discrimination, facilitating access to services (housing, health), providing integration support, protecting migrants from exploitation, and managing secure, legal immigration processes.¨

Key Responsibilities of Amphytrion Countries (host countries):

¨Integration Support: Developing policies to integrate immigrants into society, ensuring social cohesion, and fostering mutual respect between newcomers and host communities.

Protection of Rights: Ensuring that all individuals, regardless of status, are treated with dignity and protected from racism, discrimination, and exploitation.

Access to Services: Providing equitable access to essential services, including education, housing, healthcare, and financial services.

Legal & Safe Migration Pathways: Providing accurate information on rights and obligations, streamlining visa processes, and managing immigration in a safe and lawful manner.

Effective Asylum Procedures: Ensuring fair, effective, and uniform procedures for asylum seekers, particularly in regions with shared responsibility, like the EU.

Economic Integration: Supporting labor market access, reducing barriers for foreign professionals, and protecting migrants' workplace rights.

Effective immigration governance also includes investing in data collection to analyze immigration impacts, ensuring humanitarian aid to vulnerable displaced persons, and managing irregular migration effectively.¨

From what can be observed in the field, the responsibilities of the host country are not being met. Host countries are hardly in the collecting data stage, and analyzing, but insufficiently, as neurodivergent persons are still not accounted for in this whole discrimination dynamics around immigration. The majority of those in charge still have no idea what an inclusive strategy is, but those who define the terms have no idea about planning or inclusivity.
