Underground Exit

Essay Fragment for Human Rights by Oana Maroti

One of the most complex projects I've been working on for years is about underground culture. I started with literature, continued with the study of neurodiversity in Psychopedagogy, and I understood what a functional inclusion plan means and why it's essential.

I continue with interest in comics, music, film, street art, tattoo-art, gaming… where there can still be found cultural manifestations parallel to the commercial ones.

Apart from the artistic factor, the interest in creation, the different and amazing processing, what enters the underground culture is what "doesn't sell", what from the start suffers an abuse through social exclusion, and if it addresses social themes, it interests us all.

Underground culture explains, in every city in the world, social themes in detail and even offers solutions. For a psychologist, teacher, writer, or artist, it seems necessary to be initiated in the history of underground culture, and it´s a topic to include in the school curriculum.

As a Psychopedagogue, I cannot help but notice the moral support techniques derived from underground culture, and as a poetry lover, I particularly appreciate the lyrics that can appear in a song about the hardships of the streets, war, and discrimination.

To start having an idea of neurodivergence, I invite you to definitely consult street exhibitions and music, at least. There is nothing more interactive, with minimal effort, and oriented towards integration.
