
In theory, slavery was abolished long ago; yet, entire nations and categories of people suffer discrimination and are forced to leave their homes. Upon arriving in new places, rather than receiving protection, they become trapped in a cycle of discrimination and what we define as modern slavery.
Modern slavery takes root where labor rights lack protection. Entire generations live in a state of descent-based slavery—particularly through the maternal line—an issue we ought to address as an emergency.
