Empath Love for Fair Play

Essay fragment Human Rights by Oana Maroti

When we perceive people as individuals—as equals—rather than as products or manipulable beings, we encourage others who had previously overlooked them to take a second look and appreciate their value.

If an empathetic friend of yours is suffering because they have been relegated to a second or third choice—left waiting in limbo—simply offering support, truly seeing them, and paying attention to them is enough. Through the mere presence of an observer, a competitive person will be stirred to want to win the contest and, consequently, desire what you have. If having such a person by your side matters to you, this is the way to achieve it. They are the easiest to get. This will reignite possibilities and allow that friend—who was waiting and suffering—to finally make a choice; after all, empathetic people tend to accept rather than choose. This reflects an issue with emotional intelligence in those who struggle to decide, often due to a personality that has not yet fully formed. When we are unsure of what we want, there is emotional work yet to be done, and be glad that someone is waiting for us to develop. I wouldn't. It's personal development. We have our own; no need to pet an indecisive persona who becomes cruel, whether by lack of social dynamics knowledge or by simple stupidity.
