Black cats lead terrible lives compared to other cats, simply because of a label imposed upon them. They suffer severe discrimination due to negative connotations rooted in the Middle Ages and associations linked to their color. Same color we prefer for ceremonial activities, which is odd.
Regardless of our perception issues, black cats are cats nonetheless. Once it becomes clear that they are adorable animals, prejudices vanish; even someone who dislikes cats will feel more at ease and perceive them as less dangerous, and super lovable, as they are.
